Let’s Get Paddling!

Let’s Get Paddling!

May 24, 2015 Archives, Let's Get Paddling!

Can you see yourself kayaking along the base of the 100 meter high Stormy Lake Bluffs, or hiking on trails that can take you to a peek where you can view the local landscape or maybe you’d be interested in learning more about our land from the Natural Heritage Education program? These are some of the opportunities you can experience at Restoule Provincial Park. Or, how about:

Luther Marsh: a biological treasure tucked away in the upper reaches of the valley of the Grand River. It is one of southern Ontario’s most significant wetlands.

Presque Isle, Erie PA: is a natural landmark and a favorite spot for migrating birds. Because of the large number of unique habitats, Presque Isle contains many of the state’s endangered, threatened and rare species.

Algonquin Park: a natural wilderness with sparkling blue lakes and rivers in an incredible wilderness setting.

Big Creek, Port Rowan: home to a wealth of wildlife, including birds, frogs, turtles, amphibians, insects and many other species, all of which rely on wetland habitats. The extensive marshes at the mouth of Big Creek are remarkably undisturbed.

Memorial Paddle for John Wolfenberg: To honor “John“ a club founder and wonderful kayaking friend. We will remember all the great times shared with him as we paddle around Navy Island. (This was one of his favorite places to kayak.)

These paddles & many more are part of our yearly paddling schedules. Thank you to our club members who have volunteered to be trip leaders. It is your dedication that makes our kayaking club so very interesting and so much fun each & every year!

It’s always great to see new club members out on the water enjoying the excitement of a great paddle. I am sure you will find that the “Peninsula Paddlers Club” will take you to places you have not yet discovered, or would be unwilling to attempt on your own.

I look forward to seeing all of you on the water and sharing in many fun adventures throughout this new kayaking season.
